Ideal candidate for this position is able to translate structured/unstructured data into business insights and work on multiple projects simultaneously. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Masters or Phd in Statistics, Applied Math, Econometrics or other related field desired.

  • 2+ years experience working in consulting, financial services or related fields. Insurance experience a plus.

  • Experience working with large datasets and complex relational data models. Strong attention to detail.

  • Statistical programming experience: Advanced capabilities using SAS and SQL and/or; Ability to use R statistical and database packages for analytical and data processing tasks; Other programming experience a plus (Python, Spark).

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Track record of strong problem solving skills and client-facing communication skills a plus.
  • Fast learner who is able to both contribute independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team.

  • Ability and willingness to multitask on different projects and manage multiple deadlines.

 Role and Responsibilities

The Sr. Data Scientist will report to a Director of Analytics and will interact closely with clients. A number of key responsibilities include:

  • Work with various database platforms to gather and process data, with knowledge on inherent structure of the data.

  • With guidance from senior team members, use SAS, R, or Python to perform statistical analysis, compile reports/dashboards and build predictive statistical models.

  • Identify innovative solutions and recommend actionable roadmap for solving complex business problems.

  • Summarize and present analytical results to both technical and non-technical client audience.

  • Work with Analytics and R&D to develop new methods for statistical analysis and visualization.

Location: New York, NY. Candidates not local to the area must be willing to relocate.
